Die größte Schlacht in der Geschichte aller Online Games ist ausgebrochen. Warum?
Eine Rechnung zwischen zwei der mächtigsten Allianzen wurde nicht gezahlt. Und wo? Im EVE Online Universum.
EVE Online (findet mehr raus hier http://www.eveonline.com/) spielt sich im Weltall ab, Spieler können Unternehmen und Allianzen gründen. Tja, und zwei große Allianzen mit den ungewöhnlichen Namen Goonswarm und The Mittani hatten einen Deal, der leider platzte. Daraufhin verbündete Goonswarm sich mit 3 weiteren riesigen Allianzen. Eins führte zum anderen und auf einmal fochten seit 3 Tagen über 2200 Piloten einen riesigen Krieg aus.
Mit dabei sind (oder sollten wir sagen waren) auch 50 Titanen. Das sind sozusagen die größten und stärksten Weltraumschiffe im Spiel. Ein Titan kostet umgerechnet an die 4.000US$. Somit sind bereits über 300.000US$ draufgegangen, rechnet man den ganzen Kleinkram mit, der im Gefecht auch etwas abbekam.
The Mittani behaupteten, sie hätten weitaus früher gewinnen können und dass es in der Endphase des Krieges nur darum ging, weiterhin ihre Macht zu demonstrieren und den Gegner vernichtend zu schlagen – eine Art, ihre Dominanz auszudrücken gegenüber den Goonswarm.
Diese riesigen Schiffe auf dem Foto sind Titanen und damit ihr eine Größenvorstellung habt: Ein Titan ist ungefähr doppelt so groß wie Berlin…

The biggest battle in the history of online gaming broke out. Why? There’s been an unpaid deal between two of the strongest alliances in the game. And where? In the EVE Online Universe.
EVE Online (Find out more about the game here: http://www.eveonline.com/) takes place in space , players can found corporations and alliances. And well, two of the most influencing alliances with the unusual names Goonswarm and The Mittani had a deal that that burst like a bubble. As an answer, the Goonswarm has merged with three further huge alliances to fight The Mittani together. One thing led to another and now there are more than 2200 pilots fighting for three whole days straight.
In this fight, there also are (I should rather say were) 50 titans. These are basically the biggest and strongest ships in the game. Building a titan costs around 4.000US$, so over 300.000US$ have been lost in the battle already if you take all the little ships in account as well.
The Mittani said that they could have won the war way earlier. According to them, they chose to prolong the war in order to demonstrate their power – one way to express their dominance over the Goonswarm.
The huge ships you see in this picture are the titans and to get an idea of how huge they really are: One titan is roughly twice as large as Berlin…
