Wie wir alle wissen, gibt es bei vielen Unternehmen zum Jahreswechsel mehr oder weniger große Umstrukturierungen. Die plötzliche Schock-Meldung kam in der Nacht zum 06.02.2014. Ein Pressesprecher gab bekannt, dass die Marke VAIO von SONY verkauft wird.
Der Käufer ist kein geringerer als der Tokioter Konzern Japan Industral Partners (JIP). Für all die, denen das nichts sagt: Man kann es grob vergleichen mit Deutschlands ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, eine große Gesellschaft, welche alles aufkauft, was es gerade „billig“ zu haben gibt.

Grund für den Verkauf der Sparte sei wohl der drastische Wandel des weltweiten PC-Marktes. Nach Medienberichten heißt es, Sony hoffe mit umgerechnet zwischen 291 und 365 Millionen Euro. Weiterhin sollen im Rahmen dieser Umstrukturierung 5000 Stellen gestrichen werden, davon 3500 Arbeitsplätze im Ausland. Ein weiterer Grund dafür sei eine schwierige Phase, in der fundamentale Maßnahmen nötig seien, um weiterhin marktfähig zu bleiben.

As we all know, many companies more or less under large restructurings at the turn of the year. The sudden shock news hit the entire electronics and computer industry on February 6^th,2014. A spokesman announced that SONY is selling their VAIO brand.
The company interested in buying said brand is no one less than Tokyo’s investment fund group Japan Industrial Partners (JIP), for all of those who never heard of this company before: you can roughly compare it with Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. A large association buying basically anything they consider “best bang for the buck”.

Further, it is mentioned that one of the reasons for selling the brand is the drastic change of the worldwide computer market. In accord with media reports, Sony hopes to receive 291 to 365 million Euro (converted). Moreover, as another part of the restructuring measures, 5000 people are to be laid off out of which 3500 are located offshore. Another reason for selling VAIO is said to be a Sony suffering from rough times, when fundamental measures are needed to remain marketable.
